What I've Learned This Week

Copied from my old blog:

Hey guys! I'm BAACCKKK

This new segment is something that I am hoping to publish ever Friday morning for you (since I have gobs of time to do nothing during my midnight shift)! It'll kind of be like a chance to do my weekly recaps again without having to attach a video every time; however, sometimes when I feel like doing another weekly or daily vlog, this will be the post in which you can find links to those videos on youtube.

So, without further ado--here's all the good stuff... everything I learned this week!!

Credit Cards are cool
I finally got accepted to get a Discover card, and I received mine in the mail just the other day. Don't fret, I'm responsible and understand how they work! I will be using mine to build credit--I feel like such an adult.

Agnosia
I am taking a cognitive neuro science class as an credit for my psychology cognate. So far, it's really entertaining and my prof seems to be super understanding. He makes 8am classes fun and eye opening. Yesterday I learned what Agnosia is. It's a disorder whereby people cannot identify objects or see what the meaning of a visual object is. Some really interesting variations include: prosopagnosia-difficulty recognizing faces, alexia-difficulty recognizing words, or even zooagnosia and vegetagnosia! Check out this video we watched in class: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aplTvEQ6ew

There are 4 types of gamers
The achiever, socializer, explorer, and killer! Which are you? In my game design class we talked about games that appeal to only a specific type of gamer and others that appeal to multiple. Today's articles go more in depth and talk about eight or so different types of people who play games, but for the most part I like these four categories!

Sleep is not necessary
As most of you know, I have really been MIA for a long time. Every time I come back I have excuses for why I've been gone for so long, but they basically entail all the same things--I've been busy with work and school! I have two jobs now (which equals about 40 hours a week) plus school work on top of all that. My job with UITS TCC consists of one midnight shift from 12a-8a! This means I have really learned how to function on literally no sleep. All nighters are becoming a habit now.

#DanyellsDownload -- Pact [As Seen On: The New Blak

Copied from my old blog:

My lovely critters!

I'm here, don't you fret, but a lot of change has been happening in my life-- I LOVE IT! As always, I ask you to please bear with me.

Here's another post that I wrote over on The New Blak. I hope you like it.

Have a fantabulous evening :D

Hey guys! And welcome to my first installment of #DanyellsDownload. If you need a refresher on what these types of posts will be about click here.

Last month, there were a couple of techy things I was super in to that I really have to share with you! I've been on a fitness kick, so most of my favs this month really pertain to that.

Oh, and don't forget to leave a comment down below, or reach out to me on twitter, if you have more ideas for what I should review in the next #DanyellsDownload.

The Pact

I have been using this app for only about a month now, but I have to say--it's really got me motivated, and it definitely keeps me accountable. If you're the type of person that needs a reason (other than looking good and being healthy) in order to work out, then this app will be perfect for you, too! Plus, who does't want to make money while working out??

Pact forces you to set the stakes and fork out some cash if you don't make your goals. But don't worry, you choose how much dollar pressure you want and how often you plan on working out. You literally make a pact with this app, and they keep you accountable!

Step 1) Make a pact. Set the amount that you will pay other users if you don't reach your goal.
Step 2) Meet your goals. Use the Pact App to track your progress every week.
Step 3) Reap the benefits! Earn cash by living healthy, paid by others who don't.

You can choose to set a workout pact, a food logging pack, and/or a veggie pact. (Personally, I only choose to track my workouts; however, the more you choose to log then the more you will get paid--and the more you can loose.)

Pact is really simple and easy to use, it motivates me a ton, and gives me a community to lean on if I feel like I need some help with my fitness. If you want to check out more about this app--visit their website!

Don't forget to leave a comment down below letting me know what techy thing I need to download next!

3 Ways to Style a Circle Skirt [As Seen On: The New Blak]

Copied from my old blog:

Hello again critters!

The launch of TNB has been amazing, If you haven't checked out the site already, you definitely should >>> click here!

I published this post today, and I really wanted to share it. Oh, and don't forget to watch the video that I've linked for you all near the bottom.

Have a good day :)

Personally, I love this trend! This type of flowy and free skirt looks perfect on just about every body type, and it can come in tons of colors and patterns! I chose to style this plain black one for you all just to show how many different opportunities this skirt can have. It's definitely a staple piece in my wardrobe.

Summer Casual

This first outfit is a little more casual. Summer clothes need to be airy and bouncy because they keep you cool and comfortable even in the heat. I chose to throw on a bright and floral cropped tank, then swooped on a light weight denim sleeveless shirt.

Business Chic

If you want more of a official and dressy vibe then this skirt can be paired with any sort of button down. For an even more put together look, try wearing a skirt made of a different fabric--cotton is often too chill for an office, but maybe you could rock something heavier like pleather.

Sassy Night

Next up, let's try something for that evening life! When I'm out with friends I want to look super flirty and fun. I chose to pair the circle shirt with a lose-fitting crop top. All of the layers bouncy around perfectly when you're getting your groove on on the dance floor.

The New Blak Blog

Copied from my old blog:

Hello again critters, long time no see!

Working is all I've been doing lately, but I decided to stop in and tell you about something very exciting. A blog that I have been creating for a month or so now is finally live. The New Blak is a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blog devoted to making girls look good, feel good, and be good.

I didn't do the whole project on my own--this blog is a collaboration project with 4 other girls (Amanda, Bree, Diane, and Kaitlin). These girls are some of my closest friends, and I love working with them!

Creating the website for The New Blak was one of my biggest projects so far!! I am so happy that I did it, because I learned so much (and am still learning) as I take in this new experience. TNB is totally different from my own personal blog--it takes a lot of patience and collaboration to make any sort of decision when you're working with an entire team. When I want to change the header of my personal blog, I just do it; however, everything done on TNB needs to be talked about, discussed, and thought through thoroughly.

I really enjoyed the different experience, and can't wait to start contributing even more.

On TNB I will be doing a "Street Style" post every Friday and Sunday! Also, my official hashtag for the blog is #DanyellsDownload--on the first of every month I'll talk about all things techy that every girl needs to be beautiful, fit, and sassy!

Big changes are really happening in my life, and I am trying to keep you all up to date. Sorry for not being here--but, don't worry, I still love you!!

An open letter to my desk

Copied from my old blog:

Dear Desk,

Thank you for holding all of my stuff--I really and truly appreciate what you do. However, why does all this junk accumulate so quickly? I know you're here for a reason, but why can't you just keep my stuff organized for once.

It's a stressful job, and I know Sky and I have to take some of the blame. We keep setting things on you that don't belong and horde everything that should be thrown away. But sometimes I feel like you just aren't even trying to work with me. I try to get you plastic organizers, but you just don't get along well with them. I put a trash can right next to you so the clutter doesn't pile up, and you ignore it like it's not even there. None of my efforts work, and I just don't know what to do anymore.

There are some lessons you need to learn, but I guess I'm just going to have to work with you. You need to learn how to put the dishes away--sorry, but they just don't belong on the desk top. Your next lesson is going to be how to organize cords because you just seem to throw everything around. Finally, some day I'll teach you how to close down the computer, turn off my second monitor, lock my iPad screen, put my camera back in it's case, and keep my phone charged all the time.

Teaching you all these skills is going to be a fun journey, so please stick with me. I do really love you (I couldn't do my work without you here). I know we can coexist well together, but you just need to try. Maybe I'll even try to reacquaint you with the plastic organizers again, I promise you both can be friends.

Talk to you again soon,
